A Road to Wholeness through Jungian Dream Analysis

Dream School is a unique course program that offers access to your inner world of knowing, possibility and freedom.

Presented by three experienced Jungian analysts, the year-long program provides the space, knowledge, and guidance you need to reach within and unlock the secrets of the inner self that appears each night — and that will bring new spirit to the day.

Dream School is an affirming community of fellow travelers, each on an individual inner adventure. And it’s fun!

Join us in an adventure to wholeness through understanding your dreams, the “little hidden door in the innermost and most secret recesses of the soul.”

Why Join DREAM SCHOOL?

Every night your dreams waft you into an alternative universe where anything can—and does—happen. A childhood home is carpeted with grass, a toilet is made of jade, and a drum major’s baton becomes a sword.

Dreams open us to the depths of psychic life and infuse our souls with connection to meaning and the transcendent.

Dreams speak a language of image, symbol and feeling, and they ask you to understand, to embrace, and to follow their calling. They invite you to a life of mystery, possibility, and vitality.

DREAM SCHOOL is for you if:

~  You are curious about the secret places you visit each night and what they can tell you about yourself and your life.

~  You feel distant from a part you that wants to feel more connected and alive.

~  You want to feel the beating heart of your inner life.

~  You would like to learn how to see the world through symbol and image.

You will learn:

Dream School will help you to

~ Decode your dreams

~  Integrate the wisdom of your dreams into waking life

~  Experience the space between worlds.

Understand how dreams show you what is out of balance, give you access to guiding spiritual realities, and offer paths for healing.

Provide an abiding ability to connect to your inner life and feel companioned.

No previous experience is necessary.

Your Jungian guides will provide resources, and fellow travelers will support you.

Expert Guidance

We are experienced Jungian analysts  inspired by dreams, myth, symbol and imagination and are passionate about helping people live into their depth and fullness.

Dream School is founded on Carl Jung’s pioneering insights. We bring years of study, training, and experience with dream work. We have explored mythology and fairy tales that connect us with the collective unconscious, common to all humankind. We have studied symbol systems rooted in the deep archetypal realities that have guided human development for millennia.

We have grounded our studies in many years of our own personal analysis and our work with individuals in psychoanalysis. You can see our professional qualifications here – and our monthly live stream will give us a chance to get to know you.

Jungian FRAMEWORK

Jungian dream analysis is based on the work of Carl Jung, the Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who mapped the unconscious through his work with dreams.

Dream School will teach Jung’s essential principles of dream interpretation and the skills basic to decoding the images and metaphors of dreams.

For Jung, the goal of psychological work was individuation: fulfilling our innate possibilities for becoming whole selves and living liberated and loving lives.

Working with many thousands of dreams and plumbing the depths of psyche, Jung discovered that dreams offer myriad paths to meaning, creativity, and a guiding source of life he called the Self.

A detailed method for working with your dreams

Each month in Dream School we will work deeply with an aspect of dream interpretation, learning and practicing a particular skill.

We will lead you through a step-by-step process so that by the end of the course, you will have a clear and detailed method for working with your dreams in a comprehensive way.

We will provide guidance on recalling dreams, working with personal associations, identifying and amplifying archetypal elements, and understanding the energetic arc of the dream. And we will look at elements such as shadow, anima/animus, and Self in dreams.

COURSE MODULES:

1. WHY WORK with dreams?

Our exploration of dreams will begin at the beginning – why should we be bothered to pay attention to our dreams?

2. Dream Recall in Context

Throughout history, people have known that dreams bring valuable wisdom. What did our ancestors make of dreams & dreaming? How can we best remember our dreams?

3. Understanding Jung’s Structure of the Psyche

Jung mapped our inner terrain. His conceptualization of the psyche provides a structure for understanding the mystery of dreams.

4. Objective and Subjective Dream Interpretation

Is your dream about your boss really about your boss? Sometimes the dream maker points to the inner world, and sometimes to the outer.

5. Dramatic Structure of Dreams

Jung said that “a dream is a theater in which the dreamer is himself, the scene, the player, the prompter, the producer, the author, the public, and the critic.”

6. Association and Amplification

Each of us has a personal mythology woven together with memories and experiences. When these are illuminated with ancient themes, we can see the hand of the Self at work.

7. Shadow in Dreams

Those parts of ourselves we would least like to know about often visit us during the night.

8. Anima and Animus in Dreams

Our drive towards wholeness evokes the image of the beloved. When the archetypal contrasexual shows up in dreams, the psyche is concerned with adaptation to the inner world.

9. Complexes in Dreams

Our unresolved inner conflicts give rise to the nightly images that we call dreams as a way of bringing us back into balance.

10. The Self in Dreams

Jung called the Self “the center and circumference” of the personality. Dreams that feature the Self are usually experienced as powerfully numinous and transpersonal.

11. Active Imagination

Jung developed the technique of active imagination as a way to dialogue with the unconscious in order to expand on the experience of a dream image.

12. Bringing it all Together

In our final module, we demonstrate how to weave the threads together into a cohesive tapestry which we call “the interpretation.”

FAQs

Do I need to have previous experience working with dreams?
No previous experience is necessary. Your Jungian guides will provide resources, and your fellow travelers will support you.
When does the course start?

Dream School starts the moment you sign up. You will immediately have access to the first three months of materials. You can get started immediately, working your way through the audio discussion, the written exercises, and the readings. The monthly livestream Q&A’s cover a variety of topics and are pertinent no matter where you are in the program.

What if I don’t remember my dreams?

We will teach you some techniques that will help you remember your dreams. You can also ask questions and receive help at the Forum and during the monthly Q&A.

What if I can’t make the Live Q & A?
The Q & A will be recorded and made available for later listening or review.
Will you teach me how to lucid dream?
Dream School’s purpose is to help people understand and work with their dreams, not to preference a particular type of dream.
Do I have to complete every exercise?

We want the written exercises to be a resource for deepening into dialogue with yourself—an opportunity to access your own intuition, reverie, and reflective mind. If it does not serve this purpose for you, you will still be able to understand and benefit from each month’s module, Q & A and/or peer group learning.

Do I need to be familiar with the work of Carl Jung or with psychology in general?
The only prerequisite for Dream School is an interest in dreams. We will explain and teach relevant Jungian concepts and ream interpretation techniques in an understandable way.

HOW DOES DREAM SCHOOL ACTUALLY WORK? HOW MUCH TIME DOES IT TAKE?
Good question. With the exception of the monthly livestream, the materials in Dream School are available to you at any time, so you can work through them at your own pace. Each module focuses on a different topic and offers a variety of resources to help you deepen your understanding.

Dream School is a bit like a buffet. There’s a lot to choose from. You can choose a lot or a little. It’s up to you. You can benefit from Dream School and get something out of it even if you just spend two to three hours per month. If you take advantage of all of the offerings, you will wind up spending around 10 to 12 hours per month.

Below are some sample ways you might move through the material.

Two to Three Hours Per Month
Listen to the audio Discussion (1 hour).

The audio Discussion is an hour-long podcast with Lisa, Deb, and Joe that covers the main topic in a conversational but structured format. There is a full transcript of the Discussion to allow for easy review.

Complete the written assignments (1 hour).

The written assignments give you a chance to practice the skill being covered. You can post on the community Forum to give and receive feedback.

Ten to Twelve Hours per Month

In addition to listening to Discussion and completing the exercises, you may also choose to take advantage of the other offerings on the buffet.

Attend the monthly livestream Q&A (2 hours).

Questions can be submitted in advance and all livestreams will be archived, so if you can be present, you can still benefit.

Read the monthly Musings (1 hour).

We offer our own personal thoughts and experiences on the topic covered in the module.

* Complete the suggested readings (1 hour).

Dream School uses three main texts written by Jungian analysts. Each offers a slightly different perspective. We assign short excerpts each month.

* Read the assigned essay by Jung along with supplemental materials developed by TJL (2 hours).

For those who would like more of a challenge, we recommend key writings by C. G. Jung along with our guidance for reading the essay to get the most out of it.

* Give your interpretation of the monthly Dreamatorium dream and share it in the Forum (1 hour).

Every month, we offer a dream for you to interpret. You can share your interpretation in the Forum and see what others are thinking.

* Participate in a virtual dream group (2 hours).

Dream School offers a space for you to connect with other Dream School students to create your own virtual dream groups.

* Interact with other Dream School students on the community Forum (1 hour).

The Forum is a lively, supportive community of others interested in dreams and the inner life.
WHAT ARE THE TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS?

All you need to engage in Dream School is a computer or smartphone with an internet connection. You will be able to print materials if you wish.

One important note — some Dream School participants have had difficulty accessing the course when using the DuckDuckGo browser. So far, we have not found a reliable solution to this problem. Please be aware that you might have to use a different browser when visiting the Dream School website.

WHAT ARE MY CANCELATION & REFUND OPTIONS?
Since we deduct payments quarterly you may cancel your subscription at any time prior to the next quarter. Subscription cancellation also forecloses further access to the website when the current quarter ends. We cannot offer refunds midway through any quarter.

What members are saying

Liesl

What makes Dreamschool different from other similar programs is that you get so much more than just the modules with the academic information. The audio discussions together with the transcripts and especially the other tools like the Questions and Answers really add to the richness of the program. It caters to all types of learners and Lisa, Deb and Joseph put in so much effort and extra time to accommodate all questions during the live feed.

Alison

I feel torn between wanting to tell everyone about Deb, Joseph and Lisa and dream school, and keeping them all to myself – sort of like when you’re 18 and find a new band you love!

Loretta

Deb, Lisa and Joseph are like a reconstituted, revisioned version of the Mod Squad…if anyone apart from me remembers that show. Via their program, they accompany us in the complex, confusing and sometimes dangerous territory of our psyches. With their warm, good humored and analytical presentation they engage us in varied psychological subjects that assist us to navigate our lives.

Lucila

Listening to your teachings, thoughts and musings has expanded my consciousness and has inspired me to take my dreams, as well as my transcendent self, seriously. I am grateful to have found you and Dream School!

Leva

Dream School feels like a Jungian training liberated for the collective.  Teachings and understandings that previously may have been restricted  to those involved in an analyst training programme are available online and are rendered accessible, relevant and soulful. My own individuation and relationship with the unconscious has deepened significantly.
