CHOOSING A LIFE PARTNER

Aug 14, 2018

Choosing a life partner is one of the most significant decisions one will make in life. It is a decision that can impact every aspect of one’s existence, from financial stability to emotional well-being. Therefore, it is critical to approach the decision with care, patience, and introspection.

When choosing a life partner, there are many factors to consider, including sex, money, passion, intellectual companionship, and the possibility of children. While practicality is essential, matters of the heart cannot be overlooked. The heart wants what it wants–ignoring those desires may lead to a life devoid of passion and purpose.

As Carl Jung posited, the projection of the anima and animus onto a romantic partner plays a pivotal role in the development of romantic love. The anima and animus refer to the feminine and masculine aspects of one’s psyche, respectively. Naturally, we are drawn to those with the qualities we lack, but that’s not always a guarantee of compatibility.

Research indicates that shared values, interests, and lifestyles are crucial determinants of successful and long-lasting relationships. Finding a partner who shares your worldview and has similar life goals is crucial for building a solid and meaningful partnership.

The decision-making process differs between men and women, partly due to society’s contrasting expectations. For example, women are often expected to prioritize marriage and family over their personal goals, while men are expected to prioritize their careers over their personal lives. These expectations can complicate the decision-making process for both genders.

Ultimately, finding a life partner is akin to a journey through uncharted territories, where the path is winding and full of twists and turns. It demands patience, self-reflection, and a willingness to take risks. It is a quest for a rare and precious connection that can bring joy, fulfillment, and companionship but also heartbreak and disappointment.

Finding a life partner can be challenging and arduous, like any journey, but the rewards are immeasurable. It is a decision that requires an unwavering focus on quality and a willingness to embrace the uncertainty of the journey. While the journey may not be easy, the destination is worth the effort.

HERE’S THE DREAM WE ANALYZE:

“I was in my parents’ house. My mother was showing me some renovations she had done in the bathroom. Suddenly, in the mirror, I saw myself behind me charging toward me. I turned around in terror, but there was nobody there. I turned back to the mirror and saw myself again, looking pretty demented, charging toward me. Again I turned around, but there was nobody there.”

Initially I just came to your website for specific topics (anxiety, indecision..), but I’m beginning to like the dream interpretations more and more. There’s so much metaphorical and poetic power in them and your exchange of interpretations, ideas and perspectives is very interesting. Thank you 🙂
